Pagan, Witch, What do these possibly scary words mean?

You want to come in for a psychic reading. You find out the reader is a Pagan Witch. This gives you pause. What do those words mean?  Does she worship the Devil and dance naked in the moonlight?  Does she sacrifice animals and eat babies?  Will she tell me I'm under a curse and charge me hundreds and thousand of dollars to remove it? EMPHATICALLY NO!

The word Pagan is a broad term that covers a wide variety of beliefs, all having in common the fact that they honor nature and believe every living thing has a spirit.  Pagans generally celebrate the turning of the seasons, pay homage to the elements Air, Water, Fire and Earth.  You can be a Christian or a Jew and be a Pagan!  There are more denominations of Pagans than can be listed on this page. Ask 10 Pagans their definition of Paganism and you will likely get 10 different answers.  What Mother Mystic has posted here are her own personal beliefs, she does not claim to speak for other Pagans.

So, what about the Witch part?  Aren't Witches evil people who do bad things and torture animals and small children?  Again...NO!

A Witch is usually a female but can also be a male who is a practitioner of the Natural Arts.  Being a Witch does not require that you belong to any particular religion.  It's simply using herbs, roots, minerals and other natural materials to heal, change energy, cleanse and is a practice as old as mankind.  Are there Witches who place curses and cause harm to people?  Yes, there are, but Mother Mystic is not one of them.  Talk to the elder women of your family, learn about your own family folklore.  Do you have any tales regarding removing the Evil Eye, bringing in Good Luck on New Year's, keeping your family safe during travel, keeping illness away etc.?  These old customs are the basis for Witchcraft, also known as the Natural Arts.

And you thought it was all about riding a broom naked at midnight on Halloween~
