About Mother Mystic

An adoptee, Rev. Mother Susan Breton Asselin was raised in a Breton Celtic Folk Catholic family. She was reunited with her birth mother late in life. From her maternal lineage, she is proud of her French Acadian, Armenian and Mik'maq blood heritage. Her paternal lineage including racial and ethnic heritage is unknown, as her conception was the result of a gang rape. Her maternal blood lineage has been traced back to Jeanne Chebrat, one of the founding mothers of Acadia. Mother Mystic is a participant in the Mothers of Acadia mtDNA Project. Also among her Acadian grandmothers is Radegonde Lambert.

She grew up in Olneyville section of Providence, R.I. and graduated from Central High School during a time of violence and racial unrest. She went on to attain her B.A. from Providence College while raising 5 children. She has survived abandonment, poverty, physical & emotional abuse, divorce, homelessness, domestic violence, kidnapping and rape, and chronic Lyme disease. Now happily married with her children grown, she enjoys reaching out to others who suffer from permanent or chronic pain, past history of abuse, disabilities and grief issues. She considers her experiences a gift that allows her to see those from all walks of life without prejudice, judgment or condemnation. Her fulfillment comes from helping others overcome similar obstacles and she always strives to give a sense of hope and empowerment to all of her clients.

Mother Mystic was ordained in the Universal Life Church in 2001. In 2006, she founded and was crowned Queen Mother of Temple of Divine Spirit, a Nondenominational Pagan Spiritualist Church which serves those who are otherwise unaffiliated. In this capacity, she performs weddings, commitment ceremonies, life passages and spiritually ministers to those in need. A life-long resident of Rhode Island, Mother Mystic has studied a broad spectrum of religious beliefs including Breton Celtic, Roman Catholic, Wicca, NeoPagan, & Vodou.

Rev. Mother Susan was given the spiritual name Ancient Mother Mystic upon her croning at age 50 and has accepted the responsibilities of the Mother Crone. She has received training in the Natural and Metaphysical Arts, Spirit Communication, Tarot Reading Witchcraft, Reiki, Rootwork, Hoodoo and Conjure from many teachers in her life, starting with Memere Delia in childhood. Mother Mystic is a lifelong learner, believing our magical and spiritual knowledge can never be complete. She continues her studies through various readings, workshops and courses. She became a Reiki Master in 2008 and enjoys both treating people with and teaching this powerful method of spiritual healing and relaxation. She also offers classes, workshops and meditation journeys on a regular basis, each uniquely designed to empower and enrich your life.
